A project meant to highlight the work of David Adjaye, a prolific architect. It opens with a critical essay by Regeina Lee Roberts and goes on to address three buildings that display his unique use of pattern.

The book itself utilizes a five by three grid with the far left and right columns at a lesser width. This allows for variation in line length while still maintaining an overall structure. The front and back covers are hand cut silhouettes of patterns from the three projects focused on. The treatment of images derives from Adjaye’s own design sensibilities. Just as his buildings use pattern to emphasize structure, the partial blocking of photos emphasize the truly important visual information. This is also a reference to Adjaye’s playfully sporadic placement of windows. Such allusions are also seen in the layout of text for the essay.
