"The Key to Black Holes" is an article originally published by Scientific American. For this early class project, we were tasked to design a two-spread sample for an article of our choice. Through my natural fascination with black holes and cosmology, I wanted to create something that could visually communicate this fascination. I chose to use decorative typefaces to stack text in designing the title. Juxtaposing the title, I kept the copy for both the first and second spread simple and organized. The informational image on the second spread is taken from the original article.

I chose to Photoshop an image of a black hole (artist's depiction) into the human eye for the first spread. I colored the iris a cool blue to contrast the warm tones being used in the black hole imagery. I feel that this created-image does a good job of communicating human desire to learn more about the mystery of black holes.
