Fragile 'Strings Attached'

FRAGILE "Strings Attached”: The sculpture depicting the urban transformation that happened in 2009, to conduct the Commonwealth Games was a self-expression to depict a sudden flux of haphazard facelifting of the city of Delhi (with a strong history). With no obvious logistics of daily functioning of the urban environment was in place but life persisted to proceed when these cosmetic changes were carried out. ‘Life’ unhalted but with dire consequences of mishappens due to take place at any moment. Whether common people liked it or not, the safety measure were the last priority and people embraced this altered state of unpredictability. Although the community was bothered but also did not so because the urban cities in India are a juxtaposed of shuffling and constant rebuilding and it seems that this domino effect is hyper normal as day to day life has to move on.

Arrested fast- forward: This is a video instillation based on the ideas of FRAGILE "Strings Attached", which is derived from the daily documentation of the transformation of Delhi. In order to reach the deadline of commencing date of the event; facelifting was speeded up- than the normal pace.  The time and the targets to complete the renovation was a mismatch and the video instillation was design to show how life was fast forwarded and also being trapped. The dilemma in the film is portrayed in a way that it keeps looping with the start and end being the same. This is to show the pressure to complete the task at a faster rate was only a quagmire of not moving forward.
