Portraits
One semester during college, I had a professor who said "portraiture is not art". He believed that art must evoke emotion, and just staring at a face does not evoke emotion. I disagreed. When it came time for my exam at the local art museum, he placed me in front of a portrait painting. He asked me, "is this art?" I answered, yes. He reminded me that just staring at someone's face does not evoke emotion. I quickly removed my hat to reveal my head...which I had shaved the front half bald, leaving the back long...and stared unemotionally at the professor. He tried not to laugh, but he could not hold back the laughter. He said, "Okay, you got me...A+."
