The purpose of the artist book was to choose a set of lyrics that speak about the quality, aesthetic and unique ability of the designer. The song chosen “I’m Good, I’m Gone” is by Swedish Indie Pop singer Lykke Li.
The lyrics are about the building of experiences and waiting for the opportune moment. The title of the book “Morphosis” is apt as it encompasses the core values of the song. Pen and ink illustration was the main technique used to portray the song. Other techniques included letterpress, digital glitch art, lino carving and scanned textures.
The undulating nature and connectivity of the illustrations create a sense of continuity through the piece. This works effectively to lead the viewers eyes seamlessly from one panel to the next.
The front cover was reverse laser etched into black acrylic to leave the word mark in the real finish
The book could be laid flat at two and a half metres or could be flipped from page to page
