Um Novo Largo
'Um Novo Largo' (A new square) was a community project in Aveiro (Portugal), that consisted in the rehabilitation of a small abandoned lot, where once existed a tavern, and it's conversion into a small communal square. It was organized by the social project VivaCidade Aveiro, as part of the international project Actors of Urban Change. The rehabilitation was mostly done by (and for) the people from the neighborhood, and had the involvement of the local university, the city hall, and some local businesses and groups.
ASk - Aveiro Sketchers (which I'm a part of) was one of the groups invited to cooperate with the community, and were in charge of some street art projects. One of them was doing portraits for a tile wall in the square with the faces of the people involved.
What follows are my illustrations for that wall: a member of the organization, a resident from the neighborhood, and a self portrait.
