The Uvixens are the University of Victoria's competitive women's ultimate frisbee team. In 2011, I redesigned the fox logo to give it a stronger, athletic edge. Working with my teammates, we came up with an identity that was crisp and rooted in the artistic traditions of the west coast. We wanted our logo to reflect how we played on the field: clean, sharp and fierce.
The jumping fox was originally our secondary logo for our shorts. In 2015 the jumping fox was upgraded, with a sleeker silohette and the same Haida inspired art patterning.
These were our whites and were designed to be low-cost, using spot-printing rather than sublimation. The tree on the back is a pine variety local to the northwest coast and the tagline "boom" references the team cheer.
The first jersey I designed was our darks, with a black and gold vixen on the side.
In 2015 the club was officially recognized by the University of Victoria and the team was allowed to use the "Vikes" trademark. The new jerseys reflect that change and use the trademarks and designs of the university. However, the jumping fix still managed to sneak in there - once a vixens, always a vixen!
