A geometric interpretation on calligraphy
Bonn is a font that consists of thick horizontal and thin vertical lines. The design is based on the principles of calligraphy. Instead of keeping the tip in an angle of 45°, which is common in calligraphy, I held the marker in a 90° angle. The font was developed during a study trip, with the ArtEZ Graphic Design class of 2014, to Cologne, Duisburg and Bonn in 2013. On the way to Bonn I sketched the characters. Later on the font was used for the graduation invitations (ArtEZ Graphic Finals 2014) as a typographic identity but also as a memory. The font contains many glyphs and is best readable at a large formats.
