A More Dynamic Connection
Our second proposal explores a more unconventional – but still practical – format to present key stories and news in a new and more engaging way
to readers and stakeholders. Beginning with a custom designed masthead that employs rounded ends and overlapping strokes to convey
a sense of ‘connectedness’, the new asymmetrically folded format surprises readers with a sense of discovery in every issue.

We start with a 550 x 600mm poster sheet that is folded into a closed size of 300 x 200mm. The key to the design is the way the cover story
appears on a foldover flap, leaving the new masthead to appear above and behind on a vivid colour bar. Readers open the first two flaps to read the conventionally laid-out introduction and main story, and flow on to a secondary story and ‘coming soon’ news on the back cover.

Opening the larger fold reveals the ‘inside track’, so to speak, about public engagement activities, trivia, photo stories, etc. that make
use of the fully opened 550 x 600mm page for a dynamic poster layout. While the total space is equivalent to the current 12pp format, special stories and photos may now span across fold-lines or stretch across ‘three’ equivalent pages, which was not possible previously. Readers then get a sense of seeing ‘the bigger picture’ – a more informal and exciting way to absorb what’s happening in the world of LTA.
