The visual effects brief required us to to gather a resource of pratical effects and use them to create a final finished piece. I gathered film and textures and used them to create digital paintings.
Initially, I had a broad range of interests and captured stills and videos from every aspect of nature, which was the basis of my research. I then honed in on two specific areas, earth and fire.
EARTH:

Some still imagery I used to create a finished piece. The first picture was used as the background for the piece while the others were overlayed as textures on the below character;

FIRE:

I then created this brush in photoshop from the above images of embers;
With this brush I created the above piece. I founf it interesting that by creating a brush from the fires embers I could create a piece of nature, linking both aspects of the project.
