(other) venetian lagoon islands is a series of maps about the less known islands of venice’s lagoon, drawn mixing together comics technique, cartography and architecture. Each island is represented in its loneliness and can be abandoned, still active or reinvented with a new usage.
every island has had its own role in history that now characterizes its look: monasteries, arsenals, forts, sanatoriums, psychiatric hospitals, ossuaries and salt mines. they are solitary but belong to the same ecosystem.
The first series includes: San Lazzaro degli Armeni, San Servolo, Lazzaretto Vecchio, San Clemente, San Francesco del Deserto.
