TypoMag. Typography in magazines
TypoMag. Typography in magazines, is a publication by IndexBook, devoted to the use of typography in contemporary magazines. My task was to curate the content and design the book, with the help of Floor Koop, Claudia Parra and Luis Mendo. The use of typography is analyzed through almost thirty magazines from different aspects, both functional and aesthetic. I create a personal system of tags for magazine classification based on the typographic qualities, that also serves as navigation system. Quoting the designers, the fonts in use and showing details in actual size, helps to understand the magazine design in a better way. Since the book arrived to the bookstores it has received very nice reviews.

As one of the tags I’ve used to classify the magazines was “Custom Type”, I decided to create the TypoMag logotype, customizing an existing typography, Poster by Íñigo Jerez (increasing the contrast in all the letters and a “g” that descends lower to contain the subtitle).
