Reality Check Poster

This poster was designed for a portfolio review at the end of this year for AIGA Seattle. I really enjoy having a hand-crafted feel in my work and I've been wanting to expiriment with putting hand lettering into design so, I decided to try it out for this project. I'm also really passionate about photography so I incorperated that into my poster as well.
I wrote this out then put a photo of it into TypeTool to digitize my hand lettering. It's definately not traditional or perfect calligraphy but I liked the hand-made feel it had.
In this version of the poster, I loved how clean the lettering turned out. However, everything was way too messy and there was no hierarchy in the font size making the poster confusing and unreadable.
In this version of the poster I scaled down all the body text and tried using white to bring the most important parts of the poster to attention. I also used a different photo that incorperated tools that designers would actually use instead of all paints like in the previous poster.
I ended up taking out the hand lettering that inspired the poster. I enjoyed fitting the letters in "REALITY" into a square and think the placement of the body text makes a strong composition utilizing the middle space in the photo. I also made all the font white and relied on scale of text for hierarchy.
