TAKE ME WITH YOU
A collaboration by Natalie Bradburn, Sharlamon Marx & Jane Ingle
Take Me With You’ provides a physical and psychological shelter – a boundary between interior and exterior. The first layer, or skin, offers warmth and protection. The second skin exposes individual interiors through translucent pockets, providing an extension of the body to house our most essential items.
Analysis of our site visit to Christchurch in preparation for the Festival of Transitional Architecture, led our design development in the direction of a wearable shelter. Iterations of an encasing spiral that adapted with the body molded our designs. In making our prosthetic body suit, we wanted to celebrate identity by revealing individual interiors by exposing the wearer’s essential items. The illuminated suit becomes a beacon of light that both defines the wearer and maps a path of navigation.
We feel that spatial design is about defining the spaces that frame our form, connecting the body with the built and integrating the self with the environment.
