Within the past year and a half my ability to produce these pieces of work has been shaped and refined to a point in which I can confidently apply my individual style to the topic I have decided upon.
Mono printing, incorporating watercolours and pencils
I am particularly happy with this piece as it was a testing technique to work with, to create the light and dark with the pointalism technque. I also chose this photograph as the texture is challengeing throughout the leather fringing and metal work, something I wished to work with and develop.
This piece you can see is one of my most recent experimentations; I have discovered Mylar paper, similar to tracing paper however holds other qualities which enables it to be used more intensly, than tracing or other papers would. Looking at a subject as raw as the body, I wanted to suggest expression with muted and a wash of colour.
Throughout I have kept to a simplistic technique of linear drawings, pointalism and monoprinting with slight suggestions and hints of tones, and as I have continues in this second year study my own perffered way of working and individual style has developed and grown.

As you will see with this piece and over the next few, my work developed and grasped a new technique of expression for me in the natural forms work. Initially I was unsure how I would work with this topic and if it was the best option for me, and looking back I am very happy with what I produced over this period. I decided to layer different papers to add a conceptual aspect to mimic the delicate petals with the tracing paper and slight wash of ink and watercolour.
A pomegranate created with acrylic, pencil crayons, watercolours on card
This pointillism piece was particularly challenging as grasping the right balance with the technique to create the contrast between light and dark was something new in which I hadn't experienced before. For me this turned out better than I had expected, as I feel as though it still holds a personal element of my more expressive style.
These two thumbnails did not go as I wanted from the mono printing process; after using watercolours, coloured ink, acrylic paint I was delighted with the outcome which represents the run down and eerie sense that came from these buildings.
These few selections of my work provide an insight into some of the techniques and developments I have produced over this past year and a half. My range of techniques and experimentation have shaped my style and allowed me to grow in confidence of my work. I sincerely hope that these truly show my desire to continue this field and you can draw some inspiration from these.
