AGAINST CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE

This project was undertaken as a Classroom Projectat National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad underthe Post Graduate Diploma Program in GraphicDesign. Citing the need to break the uncomfortablesilence surrounding the subject of Child SexualAbuse, the project focuses on demystifying thesubject to Parents, who being the key agents in achild’s development, must be provided that keyinformation in an ‘easy-to-digest’ form.

The solution is designed in the form of a set of four Z-bind Booklets. Each booklet has on one side a common ‘Part 1’ which provides the basicbackground of the subject and its salient points. Theother part of each booklet provides support on eachof the four different aspects in addressing the issuei.e. Body Awareness, Symptoms and Disclosure,Legal Action and Healing. In the ambit of theproposed work under the project, Part 1 dealingwith the premise of the subject has been designedcompletely.

The booklet has been bound in a novel way, wheresome information is hidden inside ‘joined’ pagesthat must be torn apart to reveal the messages. Thebooklet uses dominant metaphorical visuals andhence can be translated in to various languageskeeping the same lay-out.
