NASS (National Ankylosing Spondylitis Society) is the only registered charity in the UK that supports people with Ankylosing Spondylitis. The charity manages over 90 branches in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and is absolutely vital in supporting people with AS. This includes fighting for its members' rights to obtain medication.
NASS wanted a re-design of their current logo to mark their 40th anniversary in 2016. The logo versions are used throughout 2016 in print and digital media materials, such as their magazine, leaflets, fundraising event posters and flyers. The logo is also used on their website and member forums as well as on the charity's social media sites.
The design brief stipulated that the style guide's signature orange and blue (Pantone U colours) were to be used. As the charity celebrates its 40th, we first aimed at a nineteen seventies-themed logo. However, we eventually steered away from the initial ideas and ended up with a more neutral design including balloons with summer-inspired font.
