During the process of observation on hipsters, It was found that the concept of hipsters was a double sided sword. Some people admire hipsters. Meanwhile, others believe that hipsters are a parody of modern sub culture. This controversial aspect of hipsters caused me to start with the project based on the curiosity about the reason why people have these thoughts.  In terms of popular areas among hipsters as well as young generation in UK, Shoreditch, Hackney Wick and Dalston are considered as trendy places where interesting elements are also found. In order to understand general ideas about hipsters, I observed these areas and people who looked like hipsters to take interviews as well. Through the process of research, some aspects in common were observed. For example, there were vintage elements such as LP records, clothes and interior design, unorganised atmosphere and inapparent signs on shops or even with no signs. They are considered as unique in modern society especially among young generation compared to neat interior design, and well organised atmosphere. I came to the conclusion on the reason about this phenomenon that young generation might have curiosity about vintage mood back  and shops without signs. Furthermore, they could start to feel a sense of belonging to cool people by engaging in the environment where hipsters are observed.   I rather wanted to digest thoughts of people who looked like hipsters than their appearance, so I asked them to fill out a questionnaire.  In order to clarify the abstract ideas of hipsters, I worked on visualisation about what I have figured by creating the collage, and developed it to fashion design to earn the final outcome.
