Bickford’s Australia, most famous for its range of quality cordials and portfolio of premium Australian made beverages has launched a new brand – Bickford and Sons. The new range proudly celebrates the heritage of the South Australian company which began production of aerated beverages in 1874. Leveraging the authenticity of Bickford’s apothecary origins, the brand offers a new range of premium mixers inspired by the company’s 140 year old traditional recipes.
The Bickford story began in 1839 in an Adelaide apothecary, where as a chemist, William Bickford focused on producing products with inherent health benefits. After his death, wife Ann-Margaret Bickford built the South Australian Cordial Factory in 1872 producing a range of beverages based on William’s recipes. In 1874 operations expanded to include aerated beverages under the name of AM Bickford and Sons. After 140 years, the pursuit of exceptional taste and quality continues today at family owned, South Australian beverage manufacturer Bickford's Australia.
I was tasked to create a design that pays homage to their 100+ years of history in Australian hearts which included a refreshed version of their classic monogram, iconic building (which still stands to this day), the kookaburra that has been part of their branding throughout the years as well as flourishes to help frame the design and custom typography. We also created custom illustration for the ingredients for the sparkling range as well as custom typography for that range.
