The Natural and Environmental Science Testing and Teaching Center (NESTT) will be the first of its kind at a public university. By meeting the Living Building Challenge (LBC), the NESTT Center will be a showcase for sustainable practices. For the NESTT Center logo, I wanted to incorporate something architectural from the center itself without being too literal. And I was drawn to a concept presented by the team behind the plans for the center: living building, living curriculum, living community. I folded both of these into the final logo design. The two "Ts" in NESTT form the cross-section of the building itself, complete with solar panels on top. The blue line over the green, sloped foundation represents the water that will run over the hill on which the center will be built. The three main colors, green, blue and red, represent the three main concepts: building (green and alive), curriculum (blue like water, flowing through everything), and community (red for EWU). These three colors as petals form a flower (the LBC's chosen symbol) as well as a wind turbine when combined with the negative space between the letters "N" and "E." Read Less
