I created the following visual graphics for the annual

Norwegian kickboxing chanpionship.

The kickboxing sport in Norway has a relatively low status in the major consesus,

and is considered to reside along the fringe sideline of sport.

Our goal was to create a standard for the Norwegian kickboxing community,

were they can use the logo for every coming championship in the foreseeable future.

The reason for this strategy originates from the fact that their current, apparent, design strategy is to create something entierly new and different every time, but, this accidental strategy is just an implication of the absence of a strategy.

This might be one of the fundamental factors which prohibits the sport from evolving from its fringe state, and we wanted to take on the challenge of creating a logo that would uniform and unite the inconsistant community, and help them rise into an established and professional sport in Norway.

 

As you can see in the picture below, the logo is derived from two gloves, used in kickboxing, colliding with a tremendous force—which is illustrated with an explosion.

 

In the final logo, everything is stylized into simple shapes. The gloves represents the enlclosing frame, and the explosion has been reduced to an “X”—because of the letter's part in the word, boxing—hence KBXNM.

 

For practical reasons, we decided to not include any date within the logo, in order to not restrict its versatility for future events. See poster.
