F_LIGHT
Modular lighting system made of recycled plane. Design: Paul Coudamy.
Afterhaving spent 20 years flying at 1000 km/h 10 km high above theground, liners at the end of their life-cycle are left rusting at thefar end of airport runways. These marvels of engineering with theirultra functional curves resulting from uncompromising technicalresearch, are diverted from their original function in order to beintegrated in our daily lives, thus offering them a second life.
TheF-LIGHT project is a diversion of the inner walls and windows of anAirbus 300. Its curves, windows and silvery isolation recycle thevocabulary of aeronautics to transform it into an unusual andfunctional light structure.
Thesewalls are fitted together to create a « luminous ceiling » forminga shell in levitation. This dome delineates the space and offers aspecial intimacy beneath it. The system can be adjusted and offersunlimited variations : the panels can be put together in a row tosuit the desired dimension.
Thewindows lighting offers circles of light which stand out against thepanels and diffuse the light on the whole surface. A second indirectlighting set on the structure is reflected by the original isolatingsilvery material and enhances the feeling of levitation of F-LIGHT.

F-LIGHT was created by Paul Coudamy for young editor FLOWN MobilierAirline.
