Project main concept
Reflecting the relation between the different layers of the city and how our past and heritage can shape our future . We discover our past not just to be preserved but to create a link between the past , the present and the future and to know how our past can become relevant to what we do now.
Project Objectives
- Disclosure of the concept and the archeological heritage of the city of Rashid
- Improving the social, cultural and economic rational for the people of the city in parallel with the urban development
- Create multiple economic activities help to provide employment opportunities in various areas of development- Identifying Rashid’s history and civilization
- Developing the skills and training a new generation on the handcrafts of their ancestors to preserve Rashid’s identity
About Rashid
Rashid (Rosetta) is a port city on the Mediterranean coast in Egypt. It is located 65 km (40 miles) east of Alexandria, in al-Buhayrah governorate.
It is famous as the site where the Rashid Stone was found by French soldiers in 1799.
The Live Museum
Rashid has passed through many stages in urban development from the the 16 th century to the 19 th century.The live museum generated from the urban context of Rashid gives a picture of the urban development stages.
