The amount of exercise needed for dogs are often greatly underestimated. Dogo is a eating training product made for small-sized dogs to train their hind legs to prevent from potential leg problems. By using this product, dogs can train their hind legs imperceptibly while eating everyday.
The Environment
According to our research, more than 80% of dogs are kept indoors(in Taiwan) while dogs usually exercise outside the house. In today's society, people are even busier than before and do not have enough time playing with their dogs all the time. As a result, the time dogs stay indoors is way longer than they stay outdoors.
The Issue
The amount of exercise needed for dogs are often greatly nderestimated. Lacking of exercise, dogs might have pigher probability to have syndromes lilke Cardiovascular weakness and hip damages, which also cause obesity.
Design Target
Restricted by the environmental condition, we expect to improves small dogs' health by letting them do more exercise at home while do not lose the interacctions between the owners and their lovely dogs.
Existing Product Analysis
The products made for dogs indoors seem to be either lack of the amount of exercise or lack of the interaction between the dogs and their owners. The puzzle toys are fun to play but have limited exercise level; thethe running machine prodives huge amount of exercise while losing the interactions.
Modeling
We used the vacuum forming technique we've learned in class to build up the main parts of the product. The whole process from cutting the foam(making the mold for vacuum forming), sanding/grinding the surface, assembly, to final spray-paint finishes took us about 2 weeks to complete.
