Inorder to come up with a mobile kitchen design which is adaptable to the diversity of Indian Cuisine, food practices and range of appliance needs it was essential to understand the basic ground elements of Indian foods. While doing so street food was found to be best fitting for outdoor food culture amongst which Delhi street foods was chosen to base the project menu upon for demonstrating the kitchen concept. The final renders showcases the adaptability of the kitchen structure to foods and appliances.
For the adaptability of the kitchen, a design concept based on plug-in and operate was generated. In the plug-in concept, the common element ‘the workstation platform’ for any cart is customizable to the food requirements it is catering to. The customization is in terms of placement allocation, according to physical specifications of various appliances, size and quantity of utensils; based on which cutouts are provided in the wooden workstation slab. Accordingly the internals of the kitchen are placed. Based on the menu the concept renders have be generated.
