A series of proposed banner ads and a layout mockup for Narragansett Beer's Twitter site, to draw more traffic to their Twitter site.
Both the Twitter site mockup and the banner ads combine Narragansett's tradition of utilizing old-fashioned pinup model imagery (their "'Gansett Girls"), background forms featured in the Narragansett logo, and their traditional can/bottle colors of white, red and green, while incorporating subtle design cues from Twitter into the banners.
The modern twist to these ads involves the choice of models. While many "traditional" pinup images feature caucasian models, I decided to find some models of color (African-American, Latina, and Asian), done up in the pinup style, alluding to the fact that beauty does not only come in one skin tone, and that beer companies might use more models, actors and actresses of color to attract a wider market.
The models' images were rendered using live trace into vector images with slightly simplified color palettes on Adobe Illustrator, then the colored pieces were brought into Photoshop, where liberal use of the blend tool made the images "smoother" and more painterly. Finally, a color halftone filter was applied in order to achieve that "old printed material" look and texture of wartime posters and magazines.
