Corvette Stingray Inspired Guitar

Guitar Inspired by Stingray Corvette
Tools: Autodesk Inventor and Shopbot CNC
Over the last few months, I've been designing an electric guitar with my neighbor, inspired in part by the Stingray Corvette. Having access and experience with a Shopbot CNC mill, we decided to design distinctive elements in the Z direction. Despite technological advancements in manufacturing, organic curves are rarely part of the face of an electric guitar.
This is the most recent design of the body, modeled in Autodesk Inventor and rendered in Showcase. It was a tough decision between Inventor and 3DS Max for modeling, but I chose the former because of a longer history with the program, and ease of dimensioning for exact specifications (this is important for electronics placement, as well as head and neck proportions).
The Stingray Corvette was one of the main inspirations behind the curves in the guitar. Note the similarities below.

This is a mockup made out of pine. Three boards were glued together to get the appropriate thickness. This is only a model to determine ergonomics and playability. Next steps are to design the headstock and neck, followed by creating pockets in the body for fretboards and circuitry. In the end, we'll be using two blocks of hardwood glued together down the center.
