PAARISUDHAYAM AND PAARISHUBHRATA
A project on Sanitation and Hygiene Education in Children

2nd semester project

Language: Telegu and English

Children are usually very quick at learning new things. They become excellent change agents as well. Children enjoy playing with toys and reading illustrated books like comics. The message, when told in a story form, reaches children better than any other medium. This book is one attempt at conveying the message of sanitation through an illustrated story.
The best way to send a message across to the children is by embedding it in a story. An illustrated story is an even better medium.

PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION
The slow progress in sanitation and hygiene needs a push to pick up the pace. The knowledge in students is very less about sanitation and hygiene. Even If they know that is unstructured. There is widespread acceptance that sanitation services are critical to improving health in children.

OBJECTIVE
Project aims to improve the health and learning performance of school aged children and by extension reduce the incidence of sanitation-related diseases.Deliver programs that reach the most children in village area. Give them a playful learning experience that educates children with joy
and interest.

Why children are focused in this project?
Children are often the heralds of change in family and community. They are sincere. They become committed to a cause in thought, word and deed. When we bring about behavioural change in their sanitation habits, we are laying a foundation for a great and healthy future.

Data study
The study relies on observational, user-centered research to gather empirical data on experiences around sanitation and various interconnected issues. Data collection is done using a mix of ethnographic methods—including extended observation, rich media documentation. A set of activities are conducted in different phases to understand Childrens and their context – experience of using a sanitation facility or open defecation, interaction with amenities and other Children while conducting sanitation related activities, perceptions of health and hygiene for themselves and their family and dynamics of the community within which they reside
