Celebrity Sign Language Photography Exhibition
Signs of Life exhibition was a unique photo exhibition featuring some of the biggest names in Irish music, media, arts, sport and entertainment using Irish Sign Language (ISL).

The photos, taken by deaf photographer Johnny Corcoran, featured no less than 26 celebrities signing the letter of the ISL alphabet that best represented them and their work.

This was the first exhibition of its kind in the world and it celebrated ISL as a unique and important Irish language.

From TV3am presenter Sinead Desmond to Footballer Robbie Keane, from cook Rachel Allen to novelist Roddy Doyle, TV presenter Eammon Holmes and musician Andrea Corr, the exhibition boast some of Ireland’s most well-known faces, who supported the Deaf by bringing ISL to the public’s attention in a new and exciting way.

The aim of the stunning exhibition was to encourage greater public awareness and appreciation of ISL, the first language of the Irish Deaf community - which is used by up to 40,000 people.

The exhibition, which was free to the public, ran for 5 days in Filmbase, Temple Bar, Dublin in October 2011, followed by road shows across the country.
