Tribute to India's Design Guru

M P Ranjan was born in 1950 at Madras. He did his early schooling in the city before moving to Ahmedabad in 1969 as a student of design at the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, India. He joined the faculty of NID in 1972 after completing the post-graduate programme in Furniture Design.
He has been responsible for innovating a number of design courses dealing with Geometry, Drawing,Design Methodology and Design Management. In addition he has developed project based courses in Furniture Design, Product Design, Textile Design, Interface Design and in Computer Aided Design for a number of disciplines including Multimedia Applications and Digital Design. In addition he has guided numerous student diploma and research projects in a variety of design disciplines. His course Design Concepts & Concerns has become hallmark for the NID Way since it is still offered to all students at NID as part of the foundation training.
