Linear Drift : A Collection of Home Furnishings

This project was undertaken during my internship with Neeru Kumar (2013). It allowed me to explore a lot of surface textures using machine embroidery and hand painting which finally culminated into a collection of cushions and quilts aimed at the market segments of UK and US. I was working for clients such as Crate & Barrel, Anthropologie, Pottery Barn and so on.

This collection is based on a monochromatic theme exploring the visual interaction between lines and basic geometric forms to create abstract compositions and new fractured patterns which are high on tones, textures and gradations. It is meant, in ways, to signify the flow of life.
Moodboard
Keywords:
geometric / linear movement / stripes / zigzag / gradations / rhythms / inky black textures /
lines / tones / shapes / organic / interaction / contrast / irregularities
Work in progress. Doodles, colors, concept sketches and materials used.
Swatches and samples developed:
All the hand painted samples have been digitized during production.
Each cushion was made with the objective of having something rich to offer in terms of pattern and texture. They will look best when coupled with plainer soft furnishings so that the pattern of one doesn’t overpower the other.
