Stanley Akrigg, an 80 year old retired shepherd, completed 8 miles of drystone wall on a farm in
Northumberland, UK. My installation is composed of photographic lightboxes of a section of his wall leading into the projection of it in the landscape. An audio voice-over by Stanley of his memories as a shepherd accompanies the installation & can be interpreted as an archive of his time there. Empty frames of cardboard boxes packed up against the projection cast shadows onto it, further exploring notions of migration (packing, transporting, distance). "Departure" explores ideas of what links us to a place.
