The Chrysalis Pavilion was installed in NE Portland's Gateway neighborhood during the Summer Movies in the Park event on July 31st. A temporary installation for community activation, it intended to activate the otherwise stagnant period between design proposal and realization. The cardboard origami pavilion served as an emblem of change and space of engagement. Carrying the symbolism of metamorphosis forward from the work of local artist Horatio Law, community members were invited to partake in paper butterfly folding and discussions about coming park renovations.
