I have grown up believing that we are beings of light and we manifest into our Earthly forms through the five great elements. The journey from form to formlessness, from life to death, is through light. Darkness is pregnant with possibilities but it is light that gives it a presence.
The Vedas describe the five elements as Bhumi (Earth), Jal (Water), Agni (Fire), Pavan (Air) and Shunya (Aether). They further suggest that all of creation, including the human body, is made up of these five essential elements and that upon death, the human body dissolves into these five elements of nature, thereby balancing the cycle of nature.
