La Muera (Spain) 2010
Competition for a new concept to redo from scratch the municipal summer swimming pools and sport installations of the town of La Muera.
The existing pools and installations had been seriously damaged because of river flooding which happens regularly every few years. The competition brief required a design which would help avoid any future damage due to flooding. The proposal featured a series of constructions set in the park as part of the landscape as if they were large concrete pebbles holding the different activities and keeping them safe from the future floods. When the flooding occurs the design will look as natural river rolling stones in the river.
