Artbe Estudio
Candeleda (Spain) 2010
Competition to transform Candeleda's town old abbatoir into Cultural Centre and extension with a 200 seat auditorium.
The project emptied the original abbatoir into a single exhibition space still featuring the old abbatoir's rails in the ceilings to be used for exhibiting art as a reminder of it's previous purpose. The new auditorium volume is designed in the old courtyard as a completely new piece overflying the old building, also providing a contemporary look to the main facade without even touching it. The space in between the two volumes becomes a new foyer to host other events.
