A tip jar that accepts credit cards

The Company
DipJar was founded by the need to add immediacy to Credit Cards.  Tips and donations were historically given in cash.  As cash usage declines, so too does the amount of money tip-dependent employees and charitable organizations are taking home.   DipJar was a simple idea: dip your card and get charged a fix amount.

Affordance is Everything
What is a shape that indicates to the potential tipper that this is where they should place a credit card?  We kept things pretty simple with our design.  Only one interaction is possible: the dip.  A light show makes a celebration out of the ritual when money is donated.  As an added bonus, the flat front of the device lends itself to customization and messaging.

This project was a collaboration with my great team at Bolt.
