    The most effective way for Greenpeace to convince environmentally conscious people to become monthly contributors is to personally get in touch. That’s why collecting relevant e-mail addresses and telephone numbers is so important to Greenpeace. Problem: people don’t easily just share personal info, not even to save the planet. Solution: this campaign looks like a fundraising campaign, asking people to donate only a cent. Everyone can spare a tiny amount like that, right? Further down the funnel people are casually asked for their e-mail addresses and telephone numbers necessary to make the transaction happen... but more important: to provide Greenpeace with the info needed to personally contact these people to persuade them to become regular donors.
