These poppies were originally for the front cover of the November edition of the revamped monthly newsletter that I produce for Rainham & Wennington Parish Church. However, shortly after the newsletter went to print, I was asked to also use the illustration on a poster advertising the Remembrance Sunday services for both churches.
The illustration itself was created on paper using Windsor & Newton calligraphy ink, and a manuscript dip pen with crown nib, coloured using W&N inks and several Q-tips. Realising I didn't have quite the right colours for the darker portions of the piece, I scanned the drawing into Photoshop to finish.
