De Stijl
I chose the De Stijl Style for my piece. I like the simple and form and color scheme used in the style. It made more sense when I chose my quote from the Movie “Matrix”. During the scene Morpheus offers Neo a RED or BLUE pill. One will return him to his normal life and the other will take him to a place that cannot be explained like “Alice in Wonderland”. Since De Stijl uses red and blue a lot in the style, that struck a thought in my mind then a feeling of how cool it would be to make that scene in De Stijl style.
I wanted to take the scene from The Martix and use this style.
I used Adobe Illustrator to make the piece and pretty much used the shape tool with a 5 pt stroke. I was able to find the “Theo van Doesburg” typeface for De Stijl. The piece is Morpheus holding the pills. You can make out the shape of a person and the two hands holding different colored pills. I feel like I captured the essence of the De Stijl style and also satifying the thought and feeling I had when imagining this piece in my mind.
