William Morris dreams of India

This collection was part of my graduation project, completed under sponsorship of StudioB, New Delhi. StudioB is a multidisciplinary design studio looking to launch a home furnishings and apparel brand, Anhad. Inspired by infinite and timeless resonance, Anhad aims to provide products which are rich in intellectual luxury and completely organic to the well travelled and intelligent urban citizen.
Completed over a period of 6 months, the project involved research, design, and execution of a hand block-printed furnishings collection and a handwoven collection of stoles. The complete process and journey has been documented in the form of a graduation document, which can be viewed through the link below.

William Morris dreams of India was inspired by the beautiful and lyrical William Morris prints that defined a new era in the cultural history of the world. This collection tells the story of my interpretation of William Morris prints in the Indian context. With multilayered inspiration and meticulous detail, this collection was then translated into block prints. The process adopted, material and techniques used, all embody the philosophy of Anhad to create a collection that flows like poetry and speaks of a timeless elegance.
