The task of this particular project was to completely redesign two surfaces of an inexpensive product. Drawing inspiration from a herb kit that I purchased over the summer, I redesigned the seed packets and the box they came in. My goal with this project was to create a packaging system that would appeal more towards the growing trend of urban gardening. The natural toned paper speaks to the product, and the seed packets were created with sustainability and functionality in mind. The packets themselves can be used as a plant label, that way the users do not have to waste resources and create their own label. Information for growing the plants can also be found on each of the packets, making them a worthwhile package that is not meant to be thrown away right after use. Icons indicating the necessary aspects of growing the plants were inspired by the symbols on the original packaging, which I believe is a great way to show information for visual learners, rather than focusing on a solid text application.
