I often get way too ambitious of ideas for photoshoots. Luckily, on this project it was possible to pretty much make any idea come true. I chose Maniophobia, which is the fear of insanity, because it spoke to me because I often feel myself going a little off the rails. I worked hard with my photo teacher to get the props right, for example the straightjacket. The straightjacket was actually just a white dress shirt that we sewed belts on to. The gas masks also posed a problem because we only had one. So I had to problem solve and photoshop the one head onto the other. This project was right up my alley because I enjoy dark photos. I was very influenced by music and film for this image. I intended to show the fear of being taken away because of your mental state. I had a great time doing this shoot.

We were tasked with picking a phobia and visually representing it. I chose Maniophobia, which is the fear of insanity.
