Peter Pan Re-Imagined

The Concept

This project was done as part of my Honours program in Multimedia. The brief required us to look into a piece of seminal text and re-invent it using typography. I looked into the original 1930s version of Peter Pan by J.M.Barrie (Peter & Wendy).

I always heard theories about Peter Pan being... odd. Once I read the story the Barrie wrote in the 1930s it was easy to see that Pan is actually quite the sinister child. There are many moments that occur where it becomes clear that Peter is not a protagonist at all.

I used typography to reveal these moments and created a 'collectable' quality to the chapters. The booklets (chapters) become a collectable item like comic books. Using the black and white colours to show that the story has stepped away from the 'Disney blanketed' version.

Enjoy!
