Studio Project was our last final brief before graduating. The brief was very open and we could choose from a variety of products to design for. After much thoughts and research, I came up with “Klein” (German–miniature, small, tiny) a shop that I personally would love to open one day.
The concept: Klein is a speciality plant store that would help the community recycle their old goods, also using biodegradable packaging and running campaigns like “Jar for Plant”. This means no polyethylene that is not bio-based will be used. The constraint meant I could not use plastic stickers, or create windows with transparent paper for my design. My solution to this was to illustrate and use my die-line knowledge to convey my design ideas on the packaging.
The name Klein, was to portray that you are helping to perseve the planet in a “small” way (as the world means miniature). Preserve New Zealand’s natural wild life and endangered species by recycling old goods and using biodegradable packaging. “Jar for Plant” campaign is a service provided by Klein, where you would walk in with old goods, such as glass jar, cups and card board boxes etc… and trade it for seeds or seedlings.
