My culminating work at Sarah Lawrence College, Cities of Desires and Fears; Crime, Violence and Urban Segregation in Salvador, Brazil investigates how everyday conversations, commentaries, and jokes with crime and fear as their subject influence the ways in which people move throughout and build the city of Salvador. The paper was awarded the Spencer Barnett Memorial Prize for Excellence in Latin American Studies at Sarah Lawrence College.
