Greed -- Editorial Concept Illustration

Greed: An Editorial Concept Illustration
The theme of the housing bubble was illustrated for the editorial using several key concepts drawn directly from the article. These key concepts included: mountains of debt, a long road ahead & the virtues of home ownership for everyone. I created a coherent visual theme by using a limited muted color palette, a textured overlay & similar key elements all executed in the same techniques. The design was also unified by giving it a vintage advertising feel. The images were drawn in pencil, scanned into the computer and colorized digitially. The colors remain the same throughout all three pictures and are applied in solid sections offset slightly to add to the vintage print feel. The images were texturized with a watercolor paper feel. The mountains were texturized with a faint texture of money.
