JVC Everio promotional video

So! We had the opportunity to produce a promotional video for "JVC Kenwood". The objective was to promote a durable camera brand called Everio. The target audience is people aged 25 and above, probably with kids, that like active lifestyle and travelling.

We came up with several ideas, but the one we and guys from JVC loved the most was about a kid that just loves to demolish everything.

We decided, that executing experiments in the style of "Brainiacs" and "Mythbusters" will suit the video.
You can see the results above. And here is the production process:
PRE-PRODUCTION

As usual, at the "Dialogue with the client" stage, we proposed a bunch of ideas and after one of them was selected -
we got down to the storyboard. At first we made a prelimenary one, for the client. And the second one, for us, with all the details needed for the production stage.
After the storyboard, we searched for actors. The "Ideal geek" and the "Ideal misbehaved child". We've sent the reaction shots to the client and after their approval, we moved to the next stage.
The final stage of preproduction.
Collecting all the props, which included a 25 kg bag of sand, toys, a bag of coal and ice -
definitely not the usual stuff you'll find around the office.
Getting the gear, the cameras and the lenses.
The lights!
And adjusting everything at the film location.
PRODUCTION

The most challenging part of this filming - was working with a child actor. A child actor is still a child, a 5 year old does not grasp the concept of money and you can't pay him extra to not get bored and misbehave.

Luckilly, at the "Storyboard stage", we figured that out and planned our frames, so that all the parts that include the child - are shot in less then 2 hours. A detailed storyboard is crucial for nonlinear filming.

The rest of the shots, including the B-roll took us about 12 hours and went quite smoothly.
Except building an ideal sand castle on a table it is not the easiest task.
POST-PRODUCTION

The post-production started from cleaning the shots from unwanted details.
Second stage added special fx, like ember on the coal and explosions.
And colourgrading to finish it all up.
