Poster Design for Greater Good

The poster series here is meant to point out an issue that I am passionate about. In this particular instance, I promoted the discussion of negatives of standardized testing. I believe personally that standardized testing does not prepare us for the real world, and it does not take into account the people who are trully smart in many ways, but are not the best test takers. These posters push that idea, especially that the tests don’t account for creativity and motivation. I have the hopes that these posters will get a response from a variety of people, from parents and children, to educators and even those funding our education.

The process of creating these posters started on the simple idea of what standardized testing can do to people, so I
began with illustrating the affects it has on our personalities, our futures, and our mentalities. The illustrations gave me a better idea, along with extended research, that focusing on the issues of the cookie-cutter style of testing we have now, and the fact that these tests don’t actual measure all of our abilities. The shapes follow the cookie cutter style. I also used things we know well in education and testing that would push the concept further.
