Death Chief
The idea for this design came about one night while penciling away in my sketchbook.  I am constantly brainstorming ideas that can be produced fairly easily while still maintaining a certain level of aesthetics and craftsmanship, as I screen print my own clothing with a setup that isn't quite at the professional level just yet.
The basic outline after tracing the sketch, with some detail to the head dress added.
Some detail being added as I go along, after being indecisive about where to take it from here.
This is the stage were I clean up all those ugly, flat-edged strokes and start breathing some character into it.
Finalizing the detail in the face for a bit of depth.  Its not too noticeable, but I adjusted a few details so that the design isn't completely symmetrical, as I wanted to maintain a bit of its hand-drawn feel.
Finished image.
Close-up of details.
Mockup of the finished product. I'll update this again real soon with actual shots of the finished products, which will include sweatshirts and tank tops in several colors. If you like what you see here, show some love and like the page at www.facebook.com/thetchniq, I'd appreciate it!
